Hi, my name is Joe Gudgeon-Osterritter, and I fell in love with gardening so much I decided to make it my work.
I’m 29 years old, father to Dexter, my 3-year-old son, and husband to a beautiful wife Leone. I’ve always been a mathematically minded person, keen on computers, numbers, logic, physics etc, studying Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computing at A Level in Gloucester. However, my first job at age 17 of all things was gardening! I was an apprentice gardener for a ground’s maintenance company based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and ever since I’ve loved being outdoors.
I stayed in formal education for a couple of years at Pershore College studying Amenity Horticulture, then side stepped into the production side, working in a garden nursery. We grew, trained, and maintained mostly annual plants, herbaceous perennials, evergreen shrubs, and roses, and fruit trees, supplying a chain of garden centres. After 2 years here, I decided to take a few years out for travelling. On return I jumped straight back into the garden and haven’t looked back since.
